Commutativity is a property of numbers that means a + b = b + a. The total RGB values summed together (631) are equal for the yellow wall painting and the blue monochrome painting. The RGB values of the the two colours on each square painting added together individually are equal to the RGB values of the yellow wall painting (i.e, the R values of two triangles on one painting = R value of the yellow, same for the G and B values) .
